The site doesn't cost terrible much to run, so donations are more of symbolic value than anything. I really want to stress this: I don't want to make money on the site. That's not the intention - I could place Google Ads on there if that's what I wanted. Donations is more an option for you - the user - to contribute. I will not maintain any lists about who has donated what and how much. If I can see the donator's email address, I will however send a letter of thanks.
The reason why I've set up the option to donate is that people have asked me about the possibility of setting up a PayPal account so the can contribute. If people want to donate, it's cool with me. But it's most definately not a requirement. As I'm using the domain name and web hotel for personal use as well, I can't and won't ask people to donate. It's totally up to yourself. I don't want anyone to feel presured into donating or feeling bad if they can't. It's a free choice whether you choose to or not.
